Ukulele concert

Just a quick reminder that all the Year 3 children will be performing an end of year Ukulele concert to show off what they’ve learnt this year. It starts at 2pm this afternoon and you are more than welcome to take your children home after, look forward to seeing some of you later!

We had fun at our assessment today. A reminder that anyone who did not confidently swim today will need their swim bits and a healthy snack for the remainder of the week

A reminder that 3LD are swimming tomorrow so need a towel, costume and swimming cap. Any child who does not have a cap can purchase one at the pool tomorrow.

Please provide a healthy snack (eg an apple) that the children can eat on the walk back to school.

Sports day

A reminder for children to being their kits tomorrow if they are not already in school. We will change and walk to the fields for a 12pm picnic ahead of the races.

Please make sure your child has a packed lunch and plenty of water, unless they receive a free school meal. They will need sun cream and a sun hat.

PARENTS’ OPEN AFTERNOON

Tomorrow all parents and carers are invited into school from 2.30pm to work with their children and look through their books.  
Parents will also get the opportunity to see the ‘storyscapes in a shoebox’ that the children created during art week.  Nursery to year 2 will have their work on display in the KS1 Hall, and the KS2 creations will be in the KS2 Hall.
Entry to the school will be via the Turney Road gate only.
SPORTS DAY
Sports Day is taking place on Friday at the Rosendale Road Playing Fields.  The timings are as follows:

  • The Early Years and KS1 races commence at 10am,
  • KS2 children will arrive at the field for a whole school picnic lunch at 12 noon – please note that the reception children will return to school for their picnic – unless you sign your child out;
  • Staff / Parent races at 12.30pm,
  • KS2 races commence at 1pm.

Early years and KS1 children should come into school dressed in their PE kit.  KS2 children can come in their PE kit but there will be a chance for them to get changed. Please make sure that your child brings a water bottle and if it is hot they will also need a hat and sunscreen.

The school will provide a packed lunch to all those who have a school dinner, and to those who receive free school meals. Children who normally have a packed lunch will need to bring their own packed lunch. 

We really hope that parents and carers will join us for the picnic, and that some of you will even participate in the parents’ race.

This week

Can you believe there is only 12 days left until the children head into year 4. It feels like only yesterday that they walked through the classroom door to start in 3IH. This week has been a super busy week. 

In Maths we have been learning about capacity. Did you know that the capacity of an object is the amount of liquid it holds but the volume of an object is what amount is currently inside the container. The children have learnt to read scales and add amounts of liquid together. 
In English we have finished our topic on animals. We learnt what vertebrates are and what they need to have to be called one.
Over the next couple of weeks we have some dates for your diary.
July 11th – Open afternoon 2.30pm
July 12th – Sports day
July 15th – 19th swimming lessons for children who can’t swim a length
July 17th  – Ukulele concert ay 2pm in the sports hall
July 22nd – Picnic in Brockwell park 12-2.30pm
