Weekly round up

Last week year 3 completed the first stage of their own story based around Roald Dahl’s ‘The Minpins’. We have really focused on quality not quantity, focusing carefully on our sentence construction and word choice. We will complete this creative writing block in the first week back.

In maths we completed the first block on fractions, exploring equivalent fractions. For example, we know half is the same as four eighths and a third is the same as two sixths. We also looked at word problems involving fraction which we found pretty challenging. For example, if Ben bakes 56 cookies and burns half, then gives a quarter to his friends, how many cookies does he have left?

This Easter there is a competition on sumdog amongst the year 3 classes: you’ve got to be in it to win it so don’t forget to log on and take part! We will announce the holiday after the holidays!

We wish you all a happy easter and spring rest.

Competition time!

Play on Sumdog over the holiday to compete against each other. The winner will be announced next term!

A reminder that this Friday 5th April Year 4 are organising an optional no-uniform day and an Easter themed cake sale to raise money for their trip to France.  Children are welcome to come into school in their own clothes and donate a coin, and all year groups are invited to bake and contribute cakes towards the sale.

Pet day

3LD have requested a pet day, which we will hold on our return from the Easter break on Friday 26th April at 9.15-9.45.

Please email parent communications or let Miss Donnelly know by Tuesday 23rd April if:

* your child has an allergy or any other relevant information we need to be aware so suitable arrangements can be made

* you would like your pet to join us (accompanying adult needed, please let us know what the animal is ahead!)

Many thanks
